The political structure of the State of Georgia is a democratic republic. The President of Georgia is the head of state and the Prime Minister of Georgia is the head of government. The Government wield executive power. Legislative power is vested to the Parliament of which is unicameral and has 150 members. Members of parliament are elected for four-year terms. The judicial power is implemented through the courts.

Georgia is Associated Member with the European Union. The EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA/DCFTA) entered into force in July 2016. Since 28 March 2017, Georgia benefitted from visa free travel to the Schengen area. The EU is Georgia's largest trading partner and provides over €100 million to Georgia annually in technical and financial assistance.[1]
