Presentation of the Manual of Rehabilitation for rehabilitation of prison inmates in Kiev, Ukraine


On May 17, the "Rehabilitation Program for Inmates (convicts and pre-trial detainees) with mental and behavioral disorders due to the use of psychoactive substances for the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine" was presented in Kiev, Ukraine.

This presentation has been conducted at the headquarters of the Department of Prisons of the Ministry of Justice and chaired by the Deputy Minister, Mr Denys Chernishov, with the participation of the Head of the Prisons Department as well as senior officials of the same Department and the Ministry itself.

Also, the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Spain in Kiev, the representative of the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions, who moved to Kiev for this relevant event, the Head of FIIAPP's Unit of the Security and Justice carried out institutional presentations.

The authors of the Manual Oscar Herrero and Francisco Requena, Psychologists of the Superior Body of Penitentiary Institutions, as well as Ukrainian's experts who have also collaborated in this joint work, presented the Manual and Rehabilitation program.

Numerous international projects attended the event: representatives of most religious confessions in Ukraine (which have an essential role in the humanitarian support to this group), other Ukrainian institutions -Prosecutors, National Police, Security Service, Ministry of Health, as well as representatives of civil society of Ukraine).

This Manual is the result of more than a year of work, in which an evaluation of the prisons in Ukraine has been carried out, including visits to them, seminars and above all an intense online work to elaborate the publication presented.
