Handing over of GPS electronic seals for the Revenue Service of the MF of Georgia

 

On the occasion of International Customs Day celebrated on 26th January, EU-ACT team together with the Global Illicit Flows Programme Manager (Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development) of the European Commission participated in the celebration event of International Customs Day at the Black Sea in Poti (Georgia).

Global Illicit Flows Programme Manager has delivered a speech in relation to the cooperation between the European Union and Georgia against illicit flows and drug trafficking and officially handed over the equipment purchased by the EU-ACT project. In addition to this, she also congratulated Georgian Customs officers with International Customs Day.

On the other hand, EU-ACT project has been awarded by the Certificate of Honour from the World Customs Organisation for supporting capacity building of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. The Certificate was handed over to Mr. Thomas Carter, EU-ACT Project Team Leader.

  • more effectively control transit traffic,
  • reduce opportunities for smuggling,
