The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has asked EU-ACT Project to support study visits to two other countries in order to compare and contrast policies and procedures. This will inform the policy approach in Georgia. Therefore a delegation of four prosecutors and two investigators will be hosted by the Dutch Prosecutors Office from 29th October to 2nd November 2018.
The CPO plays a full role in both the shaping and implementation of drugs policy and law. The Government’s drug strategy, and legal basis for the control of the abuse of drugs, are subject to on-going debate regarding the potential for liberalisation, and the balance between supply-reduction and demand-reduction approaches. This has led to a number of street protests, Government debate, and high-profile court cases. The Constitutional Court has also delivered decisions that remove all sanctions for the consumption of cannabis.
