As of 15 April 2020 EU-ACT Project donated 500 respiratory masks FFP2 with extra filters and 4000 textile multi-layer medical masks to the State Service on Execution of Punishment under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the purpose of preventing COVID-19 in prisons.
Masks are aimed at the most vulnerable inmates like: drug users, pregnant women, mothers with babies, patients whose health could be aggravated in case of infection with COVID, etc as a priority target. First 500 respiratory masks were purchased from local vendors and 4000 textile masks were purchased from Public Organization “Workshop of Cancer Patients Together For Life”, to support women with cancer in earning their money for treatment.
The activity was held in frames of the Plan for cooperation between the State Service on Execution of Punishment under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Project EU Action against Drugs and Organized Crime (EU-ACT) signed in November 2018, acting till December 2020.
The project “EU Action against Drugs and Organized crime (EU-ACT)” is implemented from January 2017 to December 20120 and cover countries along the “Heroin Route”: Georgia, Ukraine, Tanzania, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
