First Workshop on Joint Investigation Teams and Controlled Deliveries

 

The Workshop on Joint Investigation Teams and Controlled Deliveries was held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 26th February to 2nd March.

Representatives of law-enforcement authorities, customs authorities and prosecutor’s offices of Georgia Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan are attended this conference. Within the working process, the participants shared their experience in the fight against drug-trafficking, discussed the joint challenges and enhance the future cooperation.

Objectives
  • To facilitate the exchange of operational experiences among practitioners (law enforcement and prosecutors) from the countries in South Caucasus and Central Asia and South Asia, with those from Eastern Partnership countries and the EU.
  • To support training of operational officers on special investigation techniques (SIT), such as Joint Investigation Teams and Controlled Deliveries, as these two are key to fight transnational drug trafficking.
  • To promote EU best practice guidelines in the use of SIT to fight drug trafficking.
  • To promote and outreach EU-ACT Project among agencies that are core to combating drug trafficking in the region.
