The Assessment of the psychological and psychiatric assistance in the Ukrainian penitentiary centers was developed in Zaporizhia, Ukraine from January 22nd to 26th.

EU-ACT has undertaken the Assessment of the psychological and psychiatric assistance in the Ukrainian penitentiary centers in collaboration with the Ukrainian State Criminal Executive Service (SCES) with the help of a task group composed by Ukrainian professionals and EU-ACT experts, with extensive experience on drug treatment in prison settings.

  • To analyze the current situation of the psychological and psychiatric support, in the Ukrainian penitentiary centers.
  • To evaluate the most relevant strengths and challenges of the prison officers, in particular those directly concerned with mental health issues, regarding mentally disordered inmates.
  • To analyze the current degree of implementation of psychosocial intervention with inmates.
  • To elaborate realistic and practical recommendations, adapted to the Ukrainian context that could help to improve the current psychiatric and psychosocial intervention.
